Next Generation Learning

Technology is very popular now, but by the time the next generation learning graduates, they will be super literate when dealing with technology. All of these new devices make the next generation want to learn more. There eager to learn more because they are being exposed to more than just a pen/pencil and paper.
So as they learn how to work with technology, they are also learning how to use the tools within technology such as PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, etc. They are learning how to upload information as well as blogging or sending an e-mail. They are being more educated than ever before because of technology and I think it's great.

Vicki Davis: Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts

I'm not the biggest fan of technology, but I feel I know enough, although it's always good to learn more. When I first came to South, that's something that I realized..that I will be using technology more than I ever had. It's no problem because I feel that you should be computer literate, but I don't like using computers for everything.
One reason why I don't care for using computers while working with assignments is because anything can happen as far as submitting your work to your computer malfunctioning. I wouldn't mind using the computer for assignments sometimes, but using them all the time is definitely something I will have to get use to.

Sir Ken Robinson: The Importance of Creativity

Children that's graduating now will be retiring in 2065. Creativity is important, but in my opinion, I don't think it is as important as literacy. Lately there has been many teachers or professors that does want their students to be more original and creative. I can understand why since there are so many new ways to learn and to get educated, but I really don't think it's that big of a deal as he seems to make it.
I agree that in the next 30 years more people worldwide will be graduating through education in history. I also agree that college degrees are not meaning much during this economic time period. Even with a college degree in most areas, it's still hard to find a job. I believe that a degree in education will always be needed because education is always going to be a key factor in the world. The children are our future, therefore needing to be educated.

Did You Know? 3.0

Social life now is not just reduced to skating, surfing, or just bowling, there's a whole other world out there...the internet. Many people are now starting to communicate through facebook, myspace, twitter, and blogging. Although all of these are very similar, they also have there differences.
I know that all of these programs are worldwide, but I really didn't know that all of these were expanded for as far as Indonesia. It's said that we are living in exponential times. I knew that google was a big big company, but I didn't know that there are 31 billion searches on google every month, that's a lot!!! These numbers really surprised me, but it shows that the world is communicating in such a different way than it was about 10 years ago.

Kennavia King: About Me

My name is Kennavia King. I was born in Mobile, Al on September 2. I am the daughter of Farletha and Ken King, but not an only child. Kenterria King is my younger and only sibling. My status is currently a sophomore. I transferred from Alabama State University to the University of South Alabama at the end of July, so although I'm a sophomore, I feel more like a freshmen here since it's my first year. I enjoy sports. I played basketball all throughout high school for the exception of my senior year. I do not easily make friends, just for the simple fact that I don't trust very easy and that good friends are hard to find. God is the head of my life then my family follows.
